Governors

The governing body of the federation is made up of representatives of the Church, the local community, the Local Authority, two staff representatives, and six elected parent governors from both schools.

Their duty is to be responsible for the general conduct of the schools.  This is mainly the responsibility of the Headteacher and members of staff who report to the governors on the school curriculum, the schools' resources and activities and the general management of the schools. The governors co-operate by supporting the staff and are encouraged to make termly visits to the schools during the school day.

The governors’ role is to ensure that the curriculum is broad and balanced, and meets the requirements of the National Curriculum.  They co-operate with the Headteacher to formulate and approve all school policies and consider the school improvement plan annually.

Now that the Education Authority has devolved more direct responsibility for the local management of schools to the governors, they have a responsibility to determine the schools' budgets each year, considering the general running costs of the schools such as staffing, equipment, heating and cleaning.
