On Sunday 25th July a group of "mum's" ran the Race for Life in Bedford. It was initiated by the death in January of a much loved teacher at Pulloxhill - Mrs Sarah Rumpal. Unfortunately the t-shirts that had been designed with her photograph on were delayed and therefore not available for the runners on the day. But undeterred they met as arranged in Bedford at 09.30 on a very warm Sunday morning and discussed their race plan!! Well ok - who was going to try and run and who was going to join the walkers! Once this was decided they set off to the park where the race organisers were helping the participants to "get in the mood".Music was being played, people were stretching and chatting and there was also time to reflect on the serious side of why most people where there. The warm up was fun and the atmosphere buzzing as participants were eager to get going. Some of our participants' families also came along to give moral support, and it was lovely to see them on the course. At 11.00 am we were off! The support around the course was amazing, people clapping and cheering all the way. All of our participants finished with no injuries so we were all pleased.
The participants were:
Julia Burkett, Di Butterworth, Jo Doherty, Maria Ewen, Liz Hall,Joanne Leaver, Jo MacMahon,
Karen Sims, Lynn Urwin and Karen Ashby.

On Tuesday the Butterflies and the Bumblebees joined Greenfield children in a day of activities based around the Rainforest. All children had the opportunity to handle and find out about different animals found in the Rainforest. They saw a snake, a giant millipede and a tree frog amongst many other creatures. The children then enjoyed many different activities involving making our own creatures for the Rainforest and the results can be seen in the playground. They all worked very hard and produced some fantastic creatures and animals.

Some year 4 children from both schools went on a 6 day residential visit to Compiegne in France recently. They visited many attractions including, The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Senlis, Auvers and Parc Asterix. This educational visit helps the children to become more independent and assists in the transition to their middle schools. They met children from a French School to whom they corresponded in French, English and sign language. They bought items at the market in Senlis interacting with the stall holders and learning to count in euros. They also visited Auvers where the artist Van Gogh painted many of his pictures and where he died. Naturally a visit to Parc Asterix was one of the highlights for the children where they learnt to interact with many French people in the park.
All of the children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and said they would love to go again!
The children were encouraged to write about their experiences in France and say what they enjoyed about their time there.
This is the memories and thoughts of one child.

It is difficult to read but in essence she really couldn't make up her mind which part of the visit she most enjoyed. She talks avidly about all aspects of the whole experience.
Eco School Event in Peterborough
Some of the Eco Committee visited the Eco School Event in Peterborough recently. There were a variety of activities and stands to help us understand how we can help the environment. We entered competitions, collected stickers, badges, bags and information and had a good time. We also visited some workshops where we made our own seed packets and filled them with seeds and help create an environmentally safe beach and playground out of plasticine.
Visit our ECO Page for photographs.
The children had a visit from James Campbell, an author of funny stories and poems for children. They had the opportunity to listen to him tell some of his stories and poems and join in with actions. The children all had a wonderful time.
