Welcome to the Wrens
Your class teacher is Miss Hutchinson for the Autumn Term whilst Mrs Adams is on maternity leave.
Mrs Wardell helps you in the classroom and teaches you music.

Here are some things you may like to know about being in
Year 1:
• In the Wrens we continue to develop independence, we therefore encourage the children to come into the classroom on their own in the morning and bring in their own bags and letters.
• Do you enjoy show and tell? We still do show and tell on a Friday but we don’t bring in toys, we like things of interest and things that have been made at home.
• We still have choosing time and practical based activities in the Wrens. We have time most days in the Autumn term, most weeks in the Spring Term and a few sessions each half term during the Summer term.
• We have talking partners to share our ideas. We use them in all the different subjects and we change our partners regularly.
• P.E. is on Monday and Thursday, but have your PE kit here everyday as you never know when you might need it!
• We change our reading books on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
• In Year 1 we are able to take school library books home, which we have chosen ourselves. We go over to the library on a Monday so we can change our books. We also begin to learn all about how a library is split into different types of books. Please bring library books every Monday.
• In the Spring term we start to learn spellings. Spellings are given out on a Monday and tested the following Monday.
